Re: Tattoos
I'd say it was the other way around, people with tattoos don't stop banging on about 'their ink'.

People without tattoos, in the main, couldn't give a shit. It seems to be another trendy thing right now, to,have a tattoo - and bore the world by telling everyone about it. And how many sessions they needed to get it done. And how much it was. And who did it. Blah, blah, blah.

Re: Tattoos
It's always people without tattoo's who have most to say about them, isn't it.

We recently holidayed in a very pleasant, self contained island resort - not a youngsters gaffe and a tad pricey shall we say

The clientelle was of mixed nationality from South, Central and North America with a smattering of Europeans, aged generally 35 plus and all withwhom we chatted were professionals of some sort

It was noticable that the majority had a tatoo, particuarly the women, must say I was rather taken aback, 50 year old lawyer bird with a recent tat was commonplace

PwoperNaughtyButNot - your satirical piece below is not quite so divorced from reality mate it seems

Re: Tattoos
I have three and although I don't regret them as such, if I could go back I wouldn't have got them done in the first place.

When I was young it was metalllers and criminals that had them and then it became the fashion for overly groomed young men who all seem desperate to look like each other.

Re: Tattoos
I work in a fairly 'professional' environment where visible tattoos are pretty much unknown.

I had a guy on my team who had some 'writing' tattoos on his forearms. I only discovered them after a few months as he always kept them covered with long sleeves.

The interesting thing was he really regretted them, and always wore long sleeves when with any work colleagues, even if we were in casual clothes outside normal work time.

Sure it's a sample of one, but he was already regretting them at age 31.

Re: Tattoos
A WOMAN is choosing a tattoo design that is deeply meaningful on a personal level from the ones pinned up on the wall of the tattooists.

Emma Bradford, aged 22, would prefer to work closely with an artist to come up with a unique design but flies to Ibiza in less than a fortnight so just does not have time.

She said: “What I’ll do is get the tattoo first and work my life around it.

“It’s very important that people look at me as someone who has a tattoo, but I don’t want just a butterfly or a star. I’ve got depths.

“Ideally it’d be something that evokes the spirit of my ancestors, like a Maori sleeve, except my grandparents are from Basingstoke.

“Maybe I’m going around this backwards. I mean if I get a Metallica tattoo, that’ll really incentivise me to get into them.”

Tattoo artist Wayne Hayes said: “After five minutes conversation, we’ve decided the design that really sums Emma up is this one.

“It’s called ‘Unknown squiggles – probably Arabic’.”

Re: Tattoos
HAVING a big beard and an arm full of tattoos is no longer a sign that you would be handy in a fight.

The Institute of Studies found that the beard-tattoo combination used to convince others you were a hard-as-nails biker but now indicates that you probably read GQ and watch The Durrells.

Professor Henry Brubaker said: “These days when I see someone with a big beard and lots of tattoos I just think, ‘there goes a man who needs to be told how to feel accepted’.

“Which I don’t think was ever really a big deal for the Hell’s Angels. They probably frown upon that kind of stuff to be honest.”

Bearded, tattooed man Tom Booker added, “I like the fact that people must look at me and think that guy looks like he’s bitten someone’s ear off behind a dodgy boozer in Hull.

“The reality is, if you look closely at my tattoos they’re mostly REM lyrics and a bunch of meaningless swirly things.”

Re: Tattoos
THE three percent of the UK population without tattoos faces discrimination in job interviews and social situations.

According to the Institute for Studies, non-tattooed people are likely to be labelled ‘freaks’, ‘perverts’ or ‘attention-seeking non conformists’.

Engineering company boss Tom Booker said: “Like everyone these days I have various bits of body art covering my arms and back.

“If someone comes to me for a job and they’re not inked in at least three places, I have to ask myself some questions.

“Do they think they’re somehow ‘special’? Are they into weird music and alternative lifestyle choices? Also, are they going to upset any potential clients who visit to see non-tattooed people in positions of responsibility?”

24-year-old Emma Bradford said: “I don’t regret not getting any tattoos but it can make it hard to fit into the mainstream. I try to cover up my arms for job interviews so that employers can’t see I don’t have pictures of cartoon animals saying ‘Fuck’ or Chinese proverbs on them.

“But if I’m asked about tattoos I have to come clean and say I don’t even have a tramp stamp.”

Bar owner Nikki Hollis said: “Would I employ someone without tats? Yes, but I’d keep them away from the general public, maybe washing up or something.”

Never had one and never wanted one, one of my Granddaughters has tattoos covering her back, arms and legs and looks ridiculous, will look even sillier once she's in her 40's.

Re: Tattoos
Agree with normon. Sooo many bods have em nowadays & on most they look ridiculous.

And the most concerning thing is as ridiculous as they look now, give em another 10 years & they'll look 20 times worse!

David Beckhams got a lot to answer for.

I only have a couple and they were ok apart from one bit that went to back of my arm almost under the armpit. Made my eyes water,

The artist who did it was covered and he said the top of your foot is agony,
